Apple Music is a streaming service that lets users listen to millions of songs and albums. Users can upload their own music collection in the Apple Music library, but what if they have more than 10,000 songs? What are some ways an individual might get a bigger music library on Apple Music?

The “why won’t my apple music work” is a question that many people are asking. There are multiple reasons why Apple Music might not be working, but the most common reason is that your library size is too large.

Do you have a large Apple Music collection? Though that’s the case, we see how scrolling continuously from A to Z might make it appear as if your library is infinite. Forget about keeping track of each tune in between. So, what can you do if you want to know how large your Apple Music collection is, both in terms of the number of songs it contains and the amount of space it takes up on our Apple devices? All of this and more may be found right here!

The number of songs in your Apple Music collection and the amount of storage space it consumes on your device can be discovered in the “About” section of your “General Settings,” which can be accessed using any Apple phone or tablet’s “Settings” app. It’s also displayed in iTunes on PCs, either for the PC or any Apple Music Library-enabled device you’ve connected in.

We’ll walk you through the steps to discover information about your Apple Music library in this post. On different devices, you’ll learn how to check the amount of songs and total library size in GPs. We also address frequently asked topics, such as whether Apple Music libraries have restrictions and how to manage huge libraries to save device storage use.

What Is the Size of My Apple Music Library?

When individuals get intrigued about the size of their Apple Music collection, the first thing they generally ask is, “How many songs do I have?”

Open the “Settings” app (the symbol looks as black gears with a gray background) and choose the “General” section within to see how many songs are in your Apple Music collection on a phone or tablet. Then go to the “About” section, where you’ll see your “Songs” total.

That concludes our discussion. Quick and simple. There are, however, a few alternatives, especially if you have a PC with iTunes or Apple Music on which you maintain your collection.

You may also use the iTunes program to view how many music you have on a device while connected to a PC or on the PC itself.

To begin, open iTunes (if you haven’t already done so, you may do so here), and then choose the “Tunes” option at the top to access the folder containing all of your PC songs. If you want to see the amount of songs on a different device, connect it to your PC, then choose the device from the left-hand menu column and enter its “Songs” folder.

Once inside, look at the gray banner at the bottom of the screen to check how many songs you have. Your total songs will be shown as the number of things in that folder. You’ll also see how long it would take to play all of these songs in total, as well as how much space they take up in GP.

What is the size of Apple Music’s storage space?

People sometimes want to know how many songs are in the Apple Music collection because they’ve ran out of space on their device and want to know how much of that space is taken up by music.

To see how much space your Apple Music library takes up on your Apple phone or tablet, click the “General” section in the “Settings” app, just as you did to see how many songs are in the library. Open the “iPhone Storage” folder instead of “About” (this may display as “Usage” on earlier devices). There’s a detailed description of every program on your smartphone, how much space it takes up, and how much overall storage space is occupied and free.

You’ll be able to see how much GP each song uses after your Apple Music app has loaded in the “iPhone Storage” folder.

There is another method to monitor how much data your collection takes up if you have an Apple Songs membership and/or solely download music via iTunes. To discover it, go back to your “Settings” app and scroll down until you see the Apple Music symbol among your other apps.

You’ll see all of your Apple Music settings, as well as how much GPs your downloaded Apple Music songs take up, once you access this folder. This may be found next to “Downloaded Music” in the “Downloads” section.

Remember that any music you have in your Apple Music collection that you obtained via other sources will not be included in the GP total displayed here, since this only applies to tracks downloaded straight from iTunes.

Are Apple’s Music Libraries Inexhaustible?

Having a huge Apple Music collection of over 3,000 songs may seem like a major achievement to some, and if you have a device with 128 GB of storage or more, you’re probably unconcerned about how much space they’re taking up. Is there a point, however, when you can’t add any more music to your Apple Music library?

Apple Music libraries, contrary to common perception, have a limit. Regardless of the storage capacity of their device, users cannot have more than 100,000 songs in their Apple Music collection.

Most of us aren’t worried about the 100,000-song limit since we’re fortunate to have 2,000 songs in our Apple Music collections, much alone five times that.

Still, you don’t need 100,000 songs on your smartphone to run into issues with Apple Music collections taking up a lot of GP capacity. Fortunately, there are options for dealing with this.

What Should You Do If You Have an Extensive Apple Music Collection?

100 songs in your Apple Music collection are estimated to take up roughly 1GB of storage space, and if you have a smartphone with limited capacity to begin with (16G-32G), those songs may soon pile up, particularly when you consider the storage requirements of other apps on the device.

Delete songs is, unsurprisingly, the best approach to free up space in your Apple Music collection. While this may not be the best strategy, you’d be shocked how many songs you’ve downloaded but never listen to or appreciate.

If you’re the sort that prefers to download full albums rather than individual songs, try listening to each one and then deleting the ones you don’t like.

Another option is to eliminate tracks that you find yourself skipping often. These may be throwbacks from middle school or songs you downloaded because they were hot at the time but now discover you don’t like.

It may take some time, but deleting these additional tracks will free up storage space on your smartphone and allow you to listen to more music you know you’ll like.

Last Thoughts

On any device, determining the storage capacity and duration of any Apple Music is as easy as visiting to the “Settings” app or checking the “Songs” page on iTunes.

While we doubt you’ll ever hit the Apple Music library limit of 100,000 songs, keep in mind that doing routine library maintenance such as removing songs will free up space on your device and enable you to continue listening to the greatest music Apple has to offer.
